Otto P. Ster Sport
Otto P. Sport is our 2012 World Champion KFPS/FHANA registered Ster Friesian stallion. He was bred by Vanderploeg Friesians in Ithaca, MI. Otto is sired by Doaitsen 420 Sport and is out of the beautiful Crown mare Sally P. (Teade 392 Sport x Tsjerk 328 Sport, Preferent) We brought Otto home as an exuberant 6 month old colt, and he has been with us ever since. We have spent years researching the Friesian breed and bloodlines and were very meticulous in our search for our foundation stallion. We found Otto P. in the spring of 2012 and flew to Michigan to meet him, as well as his sire and dam. We couldn't have been more impressed with all three, and knew Otto P. was our dream come true!
Otto P. possesses a stellar work ethic, a wonderful, kind disposition and phenomenal use of his hind end along with impulsion that allows him to excel in multiple disciplines.
Otto P. earned the prestigious Ster status at his 3 year old keuring in 2015 and scored an impressive 7.5 on both his walk and trot. Click here to watch Otto P. being presented by Bruce Griffin II at his 3 year old keuring / inspection.

Tragically, in March 2022, Caitlin suffered a brain aneurysm and rupture during a show with Otto and had to undergo a series of surgeries. We are so lucky to still have Caitlin with us and, needless to say, Caitlin, her family, friends and clients all went through a very scary year that year. Otto, as a result, had the rest of the 2022 year off, essentially, and enjoyed a year at home on his farm and out of regular work. Despite only competing in 3 shows that year, Otto still won USEF Year End awards and came away with some very nice scores at 4th Level.
Otto keeps amazing us with his talent and willingness to perform. He keeps meeting every challenge and surpassing all expectations! He is schooling PSG level now in dressage. We are thrilled that Caitlin is back in the saddle and able to resume her training with Otto now! Most of all, I think we are all thrilled that Caitlin is alive and with us still, and probably have all re-evaluated what is most important in our lives as a result of her traumatic 2022. We are so excited to continue on our journey with this phenomenal stallion and see what he achieves next!
